In-Person Main Independent Study
We offer a nontraditional educational program that allows students to advance through high school at their own pace. Students choose independent study for credit recovery, acceleration, or a more flexible schedule. The VCIS staff understands the importance of providing assistance for our learners' academic, language, and developmental (ie. emotional and social) levels.
Online Learning
Students enrolled in our online program (9-12) can access their coursework anywhere internet access is available. Each student is assigned a supervising teacher to oversee their educational progress, provide support, and assign courses. Students must attend a face-to-face meeting once a week with their supervising teacher. Additional time is required for students to complete assessments, wet labs, and project reviews while on campus. VCIS provides a student area to work and receive extra support when needed. Typically, online students need to plan to be on campus for a minimum of 2-hours each week.
Students enrolled in our VLP program (9-12) have access to their coursework anywhere internet access is available. Each student is assigned a supervising teacher to oversee their educational progress, provide support, and assign courses. Students meet with their supervising teacher every week via zoom. All VLP students are expected to attend mandatory testing dates in-person onsite.
